Coming by Train for a Romantic Weekend in Montpellier (No Car)

For a romantic weekend in Montpellier by train, you can leave the hire car out of your plans. Start by checking the full name of your arrival station: Montpellier Saint-Roch and Montpellier Sud de France are in different locations. Then choose a central suite and allow time to get from the platform to your accommodation.

Which station should you choose?

Montpellier Saint-Roch: arrive in the city centre

Saint-Roch station puts you within walking distance of the centre. Place de la Comédie is around ten minutes away on foot, according to SNCF Connect. The rest of the walk depends on your suite, luggage and pace: that estimate does not apply to all three suites.

Montpellier Sud de France: allow for a transfer

If your ticket says Montpellier Sud de France, plan a public transport journey into the centre. Tram line 1 connects the two stations directly. From Sud de France, check the Mosson direction and the stop for your destination on the official TaM line 1 page.

Check timetables and TaM service updates before travelling, especially for a late arrival or a Sunday return. Sud de France is not a station just a few steps from the suites. Leave a margin to reach your platform on the way home too.

Choose your suite with luggage and access in mind

Our three suites with a private jacuzzi in Montpellier are in the historic centre. Each has its own setting and access:

• Comédie: a flower wall, a swing and 60 m². The mezzanine-level suite is reached by a few steps.
• Saint-Roch: a 55 m², 17th-century vaulted cellar, underground and reached by a few steps. Its name refers to Saint-Roch church, near rue Saint-Guilhem: the suite is not next to Saint-Roch railway station.
• Jean Jaurès: a starry ceiling, a wall of roses and 42 m². It is on an upper floor, with stairs and no lift.

Compare all three suites, then read the access information. Pedestrian streets and steps matter if you are bringing a large suitcase or find walking difficult.

Check in from 5 pm, with time for the journey

Self check-in is available from 5 pm, and check-out is by 11 am. Arrival instructions are sent before your stay. A morning train does not automatically give you earlier access to the suite: check the options for your dates before planning your day.

For your first evening, you can stay in the Écusson: walk around the squares, have dinner in the neighbourhood, then return to your suite. This central itinerary suits exploring on foot. A trip to the beach or outside the centre requires another journey; travelling without a car does not mean every destination is walkable.

What is ready in your suite?

Your stay includes a private jacuzzi, a king-size bed, bathrobes, slippers and towels. Breakfast is included for the first morning: for a stay of several nights, do not assume it is supplied every day. It is already in the suite when you arrive, ready to enjoy at your own pace.

One night or two, depending on your trains

Before buying train tickets, choose your suite and check availability. Then compare journeys to both stations, allowing for any transfer, your suite's check-in and check-out times, and a margin for the return trip.
